2026 OnlyBulls Green Flag 150 Recap — Riggs Wins the Inaugural St. Pete Trucks from 28th

Saturday, February 28, 2026

The Short Version

Layne Riggs won the inaugural OnlyBulls Green Flag 150 at St. Petersburg from 28th starting position, leading 41 laps to hold off Ty Majeski by 0.879 seconds. Ford ran 1-2-3-4 at the finish. Ben Rhodes won Stage 1 for his fifth road course stage win, the most all-time in the Truck Series.

What Happened

Connor Mosack led the field to green before Ben Rhodes took over, winning Stage 1 from the inside on lap 20 for his fifth road course stage win, the most in Truck Series history.

The road course setup favored the Ford trucks throughout. Layne Riggs and Chandler Smith battled for the lead at multiple points in Stage 2, going side-by-side through turn 1 and again through turns 4 and 7 on lap 38 before Riggs finally cleared. Riggs won Stage 2.

The race had no pit stops for any truck — a street course with no tire wear cycle that forced all strategy into track position.

Cautions broke up the race at intervals. A multi-truck crash in turn 8 on lap 26 collected Adam Andretti, Christian Eckes, and Daniel Hemric — all three received damage. A late caution on lap 52 for Derek White stalled on course hurt multiple trucks’ track position.

In the final stage, Riggs pulled away steadily. On lap 71, Ty Majeski dove inside Chandler Smith to battle for 3rd in turn 1. After contact, Majeski cleared for the spot. Ford now ran 1-2-3-4.

The final lap saw Ben Rhodes go wide in turn 13, allowing Majeski to get alongside for 2nd. Majeski pushed hard through the final corners but went wide in turn 13 himself trying to catch Riggs. Riggs won by 0.879 seconds.

The Defining Moment

Lap 38, turns 4 through 7. Riggs and Chandler Smith were side-by-side for the stage lead, Riggs fighting from the outside. He cleared in turn 7 and never lost the lead again for the rest of Stage 2. That move established position he’d carry through to the finish.

The One That Got Away

Ben Rhodes. He won Stage 1, stayed in the top three all race, had the speed to be a factor at the end — and then went wide in turn 13 on the final lap and lost second place to Majeski. He crossed third. The road course stage record is a real note, but he was in position to challenge for the win.

Numbers That Matter

  • Winner: Layne Riggs — No. 34 Ford (started 28th)
  • Margin of Victory: 0.879 seconds
  • Cautions: 6 for 17 laps
  • Lead Changes: 9 among 5 leaders
  • Stage 1: Ben Rhodes | Stage 2: Layne Riggs
  • Notable: Ben Rhodes’ 5th Truck Series road course stage win — most all-time
  • Manufacturer sweep: Ford ran 1st through 4th at the finish

Take

Starting 28th on a street course and winning requires running forward from the first lap and not getting caught in anyone else’s incident. Riggs did that. The crash in turn 8 on lap 26 took out three trucks around him without touching him. He made the right calls on track position in Stage 2, and when the race went green the rest of the way, he had the truck to win.

The invitational entries at St. Pete brought some names worth a look. Dario Franchitti ran in the No. 1 Toyota and finished 27th, one lap down. James Hinchcliffe ran in the No. 77 Chevrolet and finished 10th in his Truck Series debut. Adam Andretti ran the No. 5 Toyota and was caught up in the lap 26 crash, finishing 23rd.

Ford’s 1-2-3-4 finish is notable at a road course where manufacturer advantages are less pronounced. Riggs, Majeski, Rhodes, and Smith — all Ford trucks — held the top four through the final laps.
